Smart Home Sounds approached CBF for help with their order processing and to become their 3PL provider in preparation for the usual increase in orders in the run-up to Black Friday and Christmas sales. Processing hundreds of items and orders per day. Scanning each item via barcode verification, logging their respective Serial Numbers and then dispatching the orders as they were handed over to the courier.

Alongside being the country's leading supply for SONOS sound equipment, SHS also supply various audio visual accessories, wireless headphones, record players and amplifiers, and after moving to CBF they had just made the leap into expanding the visual range by selling SONY BRAVIA 4K TVs (the perfect sidekick to a SONOS ARC or SONOS BEAM soundbar).


Each delivery of Smart TVs would be checked against their respective Purchase Order and ASN paperwork, logged on our warehouse management system and located in our warehouse. The orders would then be processed, serial numbers scanned in, and each item would in turn be batched and handed securely over to our bespoke Two-Man Lift service, delivering across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Part of the Smart Home Sounds experience is fully kitting out a room (or rooms) with multiple speakers of various shapes, sizes and weights, plus all necessary mounts and stands, wires and adapters to be sent to a customers house, ready to be fit by one of their experts. This meant dealing with multipart consignments, ensuring all items were quality control checked for any damages, boxed correctly and protected where necessary.

As a star client, we worked hard with SHS to ensure all our processes were sound, clearly verified and logged on all systems so we knew the exact serial number for each item on every order.

Goods In

With shipments from suppliers shipping goods from all over the world.  We planned leeway on shipments coming through customs channels. Arriving by container, pallets and even individual cartons, we counted and booked in SKUS locating them in pallet and pick/pack bays.


All our Storage is calculated volumetrically, using the dimensions of the products to apply a m3 rate daily.  This gave SHS a balanced way to be charged storage as the stock was so fast moving. 

Order Processing

Polling for orders every 15 minutes, we were able to manage the ebbs and flows of seasonal change and new product releases by guaranteeing the same-day dispatch for all orders with us by 2 pm. 

With additional staffing required to process the bulky items on volume, we worked with the client to manage the order output efficiently. 

With most products in ready-to-ship packaging, we barcode verified all products and scanned serial numbers to allocate stock to specific purchasers. 

Wholesale orders often have multi SKU pallet picks to build and plan for shipping.  All retailers require planning around booking slots.


As the majority of orders were D2C.  We utilised DPD's next-day service, their superior tracking and hour slot window as the client wanted to provide a 1st class service for all deliveries. 

For the larger two-man lift shipments like TV's and larger orders.  We utilised our dedicated vans and extended van network to plan distribution routes and maintain fixed costs for shipping charges across the UK.

For all larger palletised shipments depending on value, either the pallet networks or a dedicated van or lorry is used.

Returns Processing

For all goods returned, items were assessed for damage and logged back with serial number scans and either placed back on picking shelves, put into quarantine for supplier instructions or planned for destruction on client approval.
